Silas Murray is a native of Flora, Mississippi. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Jackson State University in 2009, graduating cum laude. Silas participated in the Sonic Boom of the South and also the Concert/Symphonic Band and Jazz Ensemble. Silas continues to give back to his alma mater by being a member of the Tiger Connections Mentoring Network and the Sonic Boom Alumni Association.
Silas received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Mississippi College School of Law in 2015 with a certification in Solo & Small Law Practice. While obtaining his law degree, Silas received the AmJur Best Paper awards in Criminal Law and the Youth Court Clinic. Silas also worked as an intern at the Mississippi Office of Capital Post Conviction Counsel. He was also a member of the Black Law Student’s Association and the Phi Alpha Delta Law fraternity.
Silas focuses on the areas of Insurance Defense, Premises Liability, and Workers’ Compensation. Silas also serves as one of the Assistant Public Defenders with the Hinds County Youth Court. Silas continues to build his practice in the areas of Family Law, General Civil Litigation, and Criminal Defense. In his spare time, Silas enjoys music, entertainment, sports, traveling, fishing, martial arts, and spending time with friends and family. He is also a member of the Greater Bethlehem Temple Apostolic Church in Jackson, Mississippi and currently participates in the Perfecting Praise Young People’s Choir and the Sanctuary Choir.
